Overview
It is unlikely that any single research group will be able to significantly reduce the uncertainties in sea level assessment. The effort will instead have to be collaborative in nature; involving numerous groups, each working on some managable component of the whole. Here, some of the techniques being used to assemble a community of modelers to a common purpose are detailed.
SeaRISE Assessment
Perhaps the most important thing that we can do is to formulate a set of modeling experiments that most agree will produce important results for sea level assessment. Documents here represent the current state of that effort.
Summer Modeling School
To train modelers, as summer school has been organized.
Teleconferences
Focus groups on each of the following topics meet regularly in teleconferences to discuss progress.
- Assessment
- Software design
- Basal, surface, and englacial hydrology
- Datasets
- Ice/Ocean coupling
- Calving
Notes from the teleconferences are available through the above links. LANL has been instrumental in organizing and facilitating these teleconferences.
